Quick Hits with Gaines Adams

One of the Tigers top defensive players talked with CUTigers.com after the game.

One of the defensive stars of the spring was Gaines Adams and he showed why during the Orange & White game on Saturday. CUTigers.com caught up with the starting "Bandit" for the Tigers defense after the game.

How do you think the defense performed out there today?
Adams: We did pretty good out there. The offense didn't seem like they clicked like they usually do. The defense did pretty well today and Coach Koening is pretty happy with us.

How do you like playing the new Bandit position?
Adams: It feels great. It frees me up a lot. I don't have that many blockers on me. It's a position for a quick agile person, and I think I fit it pretty good.

What do you think about the new defensive coaches on the staff this spring?
Adams: I love them. They have a high intensity level for us. They don't settle for anything less than great play. Some coaches come in and their first year they just try to feel out the players. This year is a totally different thing.

What do you think the strength of the defense will be next year?
Adams: I think the defensive line will be the strength.

What will the fans see different from the defense this fall?
Adams: I think the fans will see more people around the ball. They will see more hustling. You might see more defensive lineman making more tackles down field because the coaches enforce that the defensive line must be around the ball at all times.
