The 6-3, 195 pound prospect picked up an offer from Clemson just last week. "Yeah Coach Napier called my coach last week. I went to my math class. My math teacher told me I had another offer and it was from Clemson," Davis told CUTigers.com.
"Coach Napier said they liked my size, speed and attitude on the field. He told me they want to look at me as a safety. He said they want to recruit defensive backs like Brian Dawkins. They want players like him to play defensive back."
The Blue Ridge High standout already has an impressive offer list. "I have six offers right now. I have offers from Clemson, Nebraska, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Kansas."
When asked if he has any early favorites, Davis responded, "No, I just want to keep everything open right now."
Davis has visited Virginia this spring. "I went to the Virginia spring game and I also went to a spring practice. I got to talk with the defensive backs coach. He told me I can come and compete as a freshman. He said I could play corner or safety," said Davis.
Davis' summer camps are also starting to come into focus. "I am going to the seven on seven camp at Virginia. That's the only camp. The recruiting process will take care of itself. I don't need to go to any more camps to prove myself."
What will Davis consider when he decides where to attend college? "I want to find a school with a good football tradition. I am looking for early playing time as a freshman. I am looking for a good defensive scheme. I want to find a scheme where they put the secondary in places to make plays. I want to go where they have a lot of academic support for the football players. I also want a strong relation with my position coach," said Davis.
Don't expect an early commitment from the star defender. "I will probably wait till next year. I want to take my official visits and see what each school has to offer before I make my decision."
We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive back from Virginia, right up through signing day 2006.
