Bowden Visits Gaffney

Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden visited Gaffney High last week to check on star linebacker Julius Wilkerson and several other top prospects. Is the talented linebacker ready to name a leader? has the latest in this recruiting update.

The halls at Gaffney High School have been filled with college coaches from the southeast during the last few weeks. Recently, caught up with Gaffney standout Julius Wilkerson to get the latest.

"Coach Bowden came by last Friday and Coach Blackwell also came by a few weeks ago. Coaches from Virginia Tech and South Carolina came by last week," Wilkerson said.

The Tigers were the first to offer Wilkerson, but it appears several other schools may be close to doing the same.

"Clemson is still my only offer right now," sais the rising senior. "But Virginia Tech and South Carolina are both showing me a lot of interest. I feel like they are getting close to offering."

When asked if he has any favorites at this time, Wilkerson responded, "No, I don't have any favorites yet."

Wilkerson does not plan to attend any camps this summer. "I am going to lift weights this summer and get ready for my senior year."

Early playing time tops the list of things Wilkerson will be looking for in a college. "I am looking for early playing time but I am also looking for a good education. I'm not sure what I want to major in yet but I know I'm not going to make an early commitment. I'm going to wait it all out before deciding," added Wilkerson.
