Tigers, Dawgs Still on Top?

The Clemson Tigers are battling the Georgia Bulldogs for one of the top defensive backs in the South. When will Byron Maxwell pull the trigger on a commitment? Where will he visit this summer? CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

The Tigers will be fortunate to host Maxwell and several of his teammates later this summer. "I know we are going to the seven-on-seven at Clemson. We are also going to the one at the College of Charleston," said Maxwell in a recent interview with CUTigers.com.

When asked if he has any leaders, Maxwell responded, "Clemson and Georgia are still my top two right now. I like both of them."

Obiviously, the prize recruit is still several months from making a commitment. "It's going to be a while. I will probably make my decision at the beginning of the season or sometime around then," said the Ft. Dorchester star.

What will the talented athlete work on over the summer? "I am going to work on my hands. I am also going to work on my speed," said Maxwell.

Who is recruiting Maxwell the hardest at this time? "They are all about the same. They are all recruiting me hard," added Maxwell.

The Clemson coaching staff continues to remain in close contact. "Yeah, they talk about the WestZone project. I ask them about playing time. They said they would be looking to add two corners. They tell me I am the number one corner on the board."

Maxwell also maintains that academics will be a be a big factor in his final decision. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive back from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2006.
