LB Josh Miller
6-1, 210, 4.55
Manning High School
Manning, South Carolina
NR: 51 Rating: ***
The Stats: Josh Miller rushed for 2,271 yards and 32 touchdowns as a senior at Manning. For his four-year career, he gained over 5,500 yards and scored 66 touchdowns. Defensively, the South Carolina native recorded 232 career tackles, including three interception returns for touchdowns. Miller chose the Tigers over offers from Florida State, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia Tech.
Strength: Nicknamed "The Horse," Miller has proven to be one of the top athletes in the state in each of the last two seasons. On film, he demonstrates excellent speed and instincts, while also displaying the ability to make the big hit. He also has the frame of a true linebacker.
Why Clemson? "I remember receiving a package in the mail," said Miller. "All the coaches from Clemson wrote me a little message letting me how much they wanted me to come there, letting me know how much they wanted me, and that made me think, ‘that was somewhere that I could see myself playing.' After that, I made my decision, and I went ahead and committed. I didn't need to take any other visits or anything. I was sold on Clemson."
Tidbit: Miller was selected to the Shrine Bowl after his outstanding senior season, but it was the week leading up to the all-star game seemed to have a profound impact on his life. "It was a great experience," said Miller. "I really didn't expect to see what I saw. The way everyone treated us and the way we treated the kids at the hospital. That was the greatest thing about it. To see how the kid's eyes brightened when we met with them and signed autographs. That was the best part of the week for me."
Coach Blackwell Says: "Josh Miller was one of the top linebackers on our board and we are glad that we were able to sign him. He's one of those kids that had he waited until Signing Day to make a decision, everyone would have done back flips once we got him. He committed to us early and then stuck with us the whole time. We can't wait to get him here."
