The highly-ranked DT had racked up offers from coast-to-coast but he chose Texas as his destination to play college football.
"He committed to Coach Brown," Mrs. Alexander told Inside Texas Thursday morning. "The trip was great and the campus is beautiful."
"Ben is a solid verbal," she continued. "I have seen it listed on a few different websites that he's a soft verbal, but he is solid to Texas."
Ben Alexander is the first DT pledge and 20th commitment overall for the Horns for Signing Day '06. In what is considered a 'down' year in Texas for DTs (at least compared to last year, with its bevy of outstanding DT talent), it comes as little surprise that Texas expanded its recruiting out of state, reaching all the way to South Carolina for Alexander.
At the time of his commitment, Alexander had a total of 12 offers: Texas, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio State, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, and Georgia Tech.
Last season, Anderson piled up 77 tackles including 30 of those for a loss, and 7 sacks.
