2003 Profile: Brandon Sims

We now take a look at Spartanburg's Brandon Sims, one of the more prolific athletes in the state of South Carolina. Brandon helped lead his team to the 2001 AAAA State Championship, and his stock will likely continue rise as next season draws closer.

QB Brandon Sims
Brandon Sims (6'3, 180) is another quarterback that could turn into a dynamite receiver or defensive back in college. This past season, he helped lead the Spartanburg Vikings to AAAA state title in his first season playing at the quarterback position. On the year, he rushed for 831 yards and 14 TD's, and passed for just under 1,300 yards and 8 more scores.

Sims is a sensational athlete with good size and speed. At 6'3, 180, he'll have the opportunity to put on some more weight his senior season and that surely will make him more of an attractive target to some of the bigger schools around the southeast.

As a quarterback, Sims has a definite elusiveness about him. He is a good scrambler with solid instincts on the football field. He also consistently shows good quickness and decision making.

As a natural athlete, you can believe that Brandon excels at more than sport. He is standout basketball player, averaging over 11 points a game for the Spartanburg High basketball team.

Interestingly enough, Sims plays with another outstanding prospect, WR Antwann Suratt. We will have an update on Suratt within the next several weeks, but he figures to be a Division I-A prospect as well.

As it stands now, Sims is most likely a safety or wide receiver prospect at the next level. He has good moves in the open field, so it stands to reason that he could get a good look at wide out. With his height, and speed (4.55), he could do some serious damage against some of the smaller cornerbacks in the ACC.

We will keep you updated on Brandon Sims throughout the year, as we receive more information.
