LB Talks Clemson & Commitment Timing

This powerful linebacker out of Maryland is a fast rising prospect that could be on the verge of making a commitment. What's the full story? has the answers in this report! caught up with the 6-1, 210 prospect as he was visiting Penn State for an unofficial visit this week. "I was just in a meeting with Joe Paterno," Bani Gbadyu told "He is still young. We talked about life. He said that he wanted me to play football for Penn State."

Gbadyu, who also visited Clemson just last week has been a hot topic of conversation in recruiting circles in recent weeks.

So is the Maryland standout close to making a commitment? "No not really," he said. "I am taking my trips this summer. I am seeing a lot of good things. I'm going to go back and sit down with my dad and my coaches and I will basically see who has the most to offer.

"My dad wants me to commit early. He wants me to make it before the season starts. I will either make a decision by August or wait until after the season and take some visits."

When asked if he has a leader, Gbadyu responded, "I don't have a leader. I am just narrowing it down to a top five. I don't have a top five yet."

The star linebacker may not be ready to name the Tigers as a favorite, but Clemson may be one of the teams to beat before it's all said and done.

"I really, really like Clemson," said Gbadyu. "I am very impressed by the coaches. All the pieces fit perfectly for me at Clemson. I just want to see the other schools to make sure. I saw the film of the Clemson defense. They do exactly what I want to be doing."

The prize recruit is also planning to visit several other national powers this summer. "I am going to Ohio State next. Then I am planning to go to Virginia Tech and LSU in July," added Gbadyu. Top Stories
