The Stats: Kavell Conner rushed for 1,301 yards and 25 touchdowns during his senior campaign, averaging 8.2 yards per rush. Conner was originally recruited to Clemson by former defensive coordinator John Lovett, but graduate assistant Billy Napier took over after Lovett's departure. Conner chose the Tigers over Boston College, Marshall, and Maryland.

Strength: Conner played multiple positions during his high school career, and he'll bring that flexibility with him to Clemson. At 6-feet-2, 200 pounds, Conner has the speed to play as a safety, and the frame to grow into a linebacker.

Why Clemson? "Clemson was really with me since the beginning, and it really wasn't even a big decision when I decided to commit to them," said Conner. "Coach Napier called me as soon as they made the coaching change and he let me know that they still wanted me to come down there."

Tidbit: Conner was named an all-district performer as a safety and a running back as a junior. He recorded 1,187 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns that season. Conner was also a three-year starter on both offense and defense, and picked up honorable mention all-state honors as a safety during his junior year.

High School Coach Says: "He's a super, super athlete and an awesome kid," said Manchester High School head coach Tom Hall. "He's a good student. He's got a lot of potential. Clemson is lucky to get Kavell and he should do a good job down there."

Coach Blackwell Says: "We are very excited about what Kavell Conner brings to the table. He could be a safety for us, or he could grow into a linebacker once we he gets here. He really looked like a physical specimen on his official visit."
