Twiggs County High School
Just over one week after verbally commiting to Clemson University, Georgia native Joe Joe Cox appears to have changed his mind.
"I do not consider myself committed to Clemson right now, I'm considering myself open," Cox said in an interview Saturday afternoon. "I like Florida State and Auburn right now and also Clemson. But I'd like to get an offer from Auburn."
Cox, who is ranked as one of the top five running backs in Georgia this year by Scout.com, participated in Auburn's football camp Saturday.
The Twiggs County running back has offers from Clemson, Alabama, Penn State, UCLA, and Maryland.
Cox is also a former teammate of incoming freshman linebacker Antonio Clay. It should come as no surprise that Clay also verbally committed to several schools, then decommitted several times before ultimately signing with Clemson on signing day.
As a junior, Cox rushed for over 1,800 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.
Clemson is expected to sign two running backs in the 2006 recruiting class. Cox was the only running back to have committed to the Tigers thus far.
