WR Rendrick Taylor
6-2, 205, 4.5
Marlboro County High School
Bennettsville, South Carolina
NR: 13 Rating: ****
The Stats: Rendrick Taylor caught 24 passes for 515 yards (21 yards per reception) and four touchdowns as a senior. As a junior, he had 28 receptions for 803 yards and 11 more scores. Taylor was recruited to Clemson by Dabo Swinney, and he chose the Tigers over offers from Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
Strength: "I'm big and have good speed," said Taylor. "I break tackles a lot and I'm hard to bring down. The one thing I need to work on more is my route running. I need to learn how to cut better and perfect my routes. But I'm sure Coach Swinney will be able to help me out a lot with that once I get there." Taylor bench presses 315 pounds, squats 470 and has a 34-inch vertical jump. He also carries a 3.5 GPA.
Why Clemson? "I really started to like Clemson a lot because they like to spread the ball around," said Taylor. "I like how they throw it a lot. And then it was my relationship with the coaches. I always felt really comfortable with Coach Swinney and Coach Bowden. They seemed to be real down to earth."
Tidbit: Taylor fills an immediate need at wide receiver, but he wouldn't mind playing on the opposite side of the ball if he's needed there. "They have said that they'll keep me at wide receiver, which I'm fine with," said Taylor. "If they need me to play outside linebacker or something, I can do that, but I like receiver."
High School Coach Says: "He's animal on both sides of the ball," said Marlboro County assistant coach Craig Stone. "He also plays outside linebacker for us. He's just one of those kids that can do it all. As soon as he shook coach Bowden's hand last summer, his commitment was firm. There was never a doubt he would be going to Clemson."
