2003 Profile: Ko Simpson

Ko Simpson, one of the state's top prospects at both the defensive back and wide receiver positions, is already hearing from schools all over the south east, including South Carolina and Clemson.

Ko Simpson (6'2, 180) finished the 2001 season with 63 tackles and 4 interceptions on defense, and brought in 22 passes for over 500 yards and four touchdowns on offense.

As a three-year starter, Simpson is a well seasoned athlete with the total package- decent strength, great speed, and good size. He is 6'2, 180 lbs, and his fastest time in the 40 came recently at 4.5- making him the solid prospect at safety.

The one area you'd like to see him improve on slightly is his strength, his max on the bench is currently 240 lbs. Strength doesn't necessarily translate into toughness though- as most scouts believe he was one of the nastiest pure tackling defensive backs in the state.

A whole range of schools have shown interest, including Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virgnia, and North Carolina State. He has already scheduled trips to South Carolina and Tennessee this summer.

Simpson is clearly one of the top 3 defensive backs in the state and we'll have more on this fine athlete in the upcoming weeks.
