The 6-6, 245 pound prospect has a large list of favorites as he heads into his senior year in high school.
"I still have a group of favorites you could say. Louisville, Clemson, Arkansas, West Virginia, California, UCLA, Memphis, Alabama and Auburn," Whitehead told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.
The talented defender, who once was a Clemson verbal commitment, spent the summer camping at schools throughout the southeast. "I went to Georgia, Clemson, Memphis, Arkansas and a few others. I can't remember them all right now."
When asked when he plans to make his final decision, Whitehead responded, "I will make my final decision on February 1. I want to leave everyone on their toes."
The Tigers will get a chance to impress Whitehead in the Valley, perhaps several times, later this fall. "I am heading up for a couple of games. I am coming up for the Texas A&M game. Probably also when they play Miami at home," Whitehead said.
"I will also go to a lot of the Alabama and Auburn home games. I might see a few UAB games and I also want to get to Georgia too."
How will the prize recruit make his final decision next February? "When I watch the schools this fall and go to the games I will look to see if I like the atmosphere. If it doesn't feel like home, then I won't be going there," he added.
Whitehead is being recruited to Clemson by assistant coach Dabo Swinney.
We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive lineman from Alabama, right up through signing day.
