Clemson's Next RB Commit?

The Clemson Tigers already have a commitment from one of the top running backs in Georgia. Could the next running back commitment come from Cordova, Tenn. standout Jocques Crawford?

The Clemson Tigers continue to lead for 5-foot-11, 208 pound running back prospect Jocques Crawford.

"Yes sir, Clemson is still my leader right now," Crawford told "After Clemson I like Louisville, Ole Miss and Memphis."

A verbal commitment may be a few months away, but Clemson appears to be his likely choice entering the start of his senior season. "I'm not going to say that I'm close (to making a decision) yet, but I'm almost ready to commit to Clemson. I am going to hold out and take my visits first. That's my goal," he said.

The talented running back is planning to take an official visit to Clemson in September.

"I am going to visit Clemson when they play Miami on an official visit. Then I am going to try to take a visit up to Louisville. I may not take a visit to Arkansas and Memphis since I have been there already, but I am going to Clemson that Miami weekend," said Crawford.

"I doubt I will commit when I come up for the Miami game. I am trying to hold out to see what else comes along for me."

Which teams would join the Tigers as his leaders is they were to offer? "Miami or Florida State. Florida State is my dream school. If they don't offer then I'll be playing for Tommy instead of Bobby," said Crawford.

When asked what the chances are that he will end up committing to the Tigers, Crawford responded, "I would say it is in the 90's. There's a good chance."

Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning is one of the main reasons the Tigers are leading for the Tennessee native.

"I really like the coaching staff at Clemson. My dad played for Coach Vic when he was at Memphis. Their running backs are not much bigger than me. Plus I like the campus. I would like to play in a college town," added Crawford.

The prize recruit will start his senior season in just a few days. "Yeah, we started practice last Monday. Our first official game is the 19th, but we have a Jamboree this weekend," he said.

As a junior, Cordova rushed for 1,389 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior. Top Stories
