The Clemson Tigers are one of the top schools for 5-11, 175 pound wide receiver prospect Xavier Harris. When asked about his top schools in the recruiting process, Harris told CUTigers.com in a recent interview, "Yes, I have a top three. My top three are Clemson, Auburn and Florida."
Harris made the trip up to Clemson earlier this summer for one of the Tigers' camps, and apparently, that experience has stayed with him.
"It was realy nice up there," said Harris. "It really caught my eye. I thought the weight room was nice. It's a nice football town. It's a nice place to play."
The WestZone upgrades also stood out to the talented receiver. "I really liked the upgrades to the stadium," stated Harris. "You can tell they are doing a lot and that they are serious about football."
Harris hopes to see Clemson - Maimi game later this fall. "I am going to a few Miami games. I will also probably go see Florida Atlantic. My coach is a Clemson alumnus (Charles Hafley) so hopefully I can come up to a game with him. I would really like to go up for the Miami game," he said.
What will be the most important factor to Harris as he decides where he plans to attend college? "The academics," he said. "I want to look at the graduation rate, especially for African American football players. I also will be looking for early playing time. I want to major in Business."
Distance will also not be an important factor in the prize recruits decision. "No distance doesn't really matter. I wouldn't go any further than North or South Carolina, but it's not a factor," Harris added.
Finally, don't expect an early decision from the talented wide out. In fact, he likely won't be ready until well after his senior season. "I will probably wait until after my season is over," Harris said.
