Davis Returning to Clemson

Clemson football fans can breathe a lot easier as CUTigers.com has learned star running back James Davis is headed back to campus and will participate in Friday morning's practice.

Davis' uncle, William Stephens, said in a phone conversation from his home in Atlanta that his nephew, "had permission to miss practice today to come home and take care of personal matters and problems he had here. But everything is fine."

Stephens said rumors and speculation that Davis was upset with the offense and his role in it and was considering transferring to another school is completely false.

"He's on his way back," Stephens said. "There are no problems."

Davis was the prize of Clemson's strong recruiting class after rushing for 2,389 yards and 28 touchdowns on 350 carries at Douglas County High school last year. For his prep career, he ran for 7,339 yards and scored 80 touchdowns.
