GA DT Plans Return Trip to Clemson

Torell Johnson, one of the top defensive tackles in Georgia, was in attendance Saturday for Clemson's 25-24 win over Texas A&M. Are the Tigers close to offering the blue-chip defender from Salem High? CUTigers.com has the details of his visit and offer list in this recruiting update.

The 6-1, 315 pound prospect traveled to Clemson on Saturday to watch the home opener for the Tigers. "It was great. I enjoyed it a lot. The fans were crazy. When they ran down the hill it was unreal. That was my first college game. It was an exciting game," Johnson told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

"I was able to eat with Coach West. I also talked a good bit with Coach Hobby. They asked me about my game. I didn't tour the campus because I had already toured the school and everything."

The Georgia standout is hopeful that the Tigers will offer a scholarship in the near future. "They told me to keep doing good and to keep my grades up. Hopefully if I do that they will offer soon," stated Johnson.

"Right now I have offers from Maryland, Ole Miss and Ball State right now. Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Memphis and Mississippi State (and Clemson) are some of the schools showing interest," he said.

Torrell is also off to a strong start this season for Salem High School. "We have had three games so far. I have four sacks, about 15 tackles and a fumble recovery," he said.

What school will Johnson visit next? "I'm going to try and come to Clemson for the Miami game. I want to see if I can make that happen," he said.

What is Johnson considering most when selecting a school? "Just how I feel about the coaches," he said. "I will look at the environment. I want to feel like part of the family. I don't want to go where I am not comfortable. I want to be part of a big family like I have now, both at home and school."
