Five-star defensive end prospect and Clemson verbal commitment Ricky Sapp visited Athens, Ga. this weekend where he watched the Dawgs hold off the Gamecocks, 17-15 in the SEC opener for both schools.
"It was alright," Sapp said about the visit. "It wasn't what I figured it would be. I figured it would be something special because of all the hype, but I did have a really good time."
How did the visit compare with his visit to Clemson the week earlier? "It doesn't really. Clemson is the place for me, especially being from South Carolina," Sapp said.
When asked how firm his commitment is with Clemson, Sapp responded, "I'm firm with Clemson. I know there have been rumors out there, but they are not true. My commitment to Clemson is firm."
Several published reports had the prize recruit considering taking official visits other than Clemson. "That's not the plan. It will just be Clemson man," he said.
The 6-5, 225 pound prospect had another outstanding game for Bamberg Ehrhardt this week. "I had nine tackles this week. I also had one forced fumble and two tackles for loss," he said.
Sapp, who took in the season opener against Texas A&M last weekend, will be back in Death Valley again this weekend. "I will be there for the Miami game and I'm bringing my mom with me. She hasn't been there yet," he added.
We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive end from South Carolina, right up through signing day.
