It was tough for the quarterbacks to get accurate throws on the windy day in Chapel Hill last Saturday in the Nike Camp, but that didn't stop Travis Lee (6-1, 170, 4.5) from catching the eye of many with his quick cuts and burst of speed. Lee did a good job of keeping his head up during the drills even after pass after pass was taken by the wind into the onlookers on the sidelines. Opposing defenses should only be so lucky as to not have to worry about Mr. Lee getting the ball on game day.
"He makes big plays," said Crest assistant coach Brian Clary. "It's that simple. Travis has the ability to turn a little play in to a big play." The numbers back up Coach Clary's statements as Lee averaged better than 25 yards per catch and a touchdown for every 3 times he touched the ball.
An excellent athlete, Lee also averages nearly 17 points per game at shooting guard as well as competing in the triple jump, 200 m and 4X200 m on the track team. Lee has a few summer camps on his schedule right now as well. "Right now, I'm planning on going to the North Carolina and NC State camps for sure," said Lee. "I'm not sure about other camps yet. Some of my favorite schools so far are Tennessee, North Carolina, NC, South Carolina, and Clemson. I'm pretty open though."
Lee helped lead Crest to an undefeated regular season last year. Crest lost in the State Finals, but if Lee has any say in it, Crest won't come up short this season.
