Fla DT has Tigers Among Favorites

This big defensive tackle prospect from Florida is planning to visit Clemson later this fall with a current Tiger verbal commitment. Who are the current favorites for the blue-chip lineman? CUTigers.com has the answers in this recruiting update.

6-5, 285 pound defensive tackle prospect Kareem Crowell is having a strong senior season for Godby High School. CUTigers.com caught up with Crowell recently to get his thoughts on a number of topics, but more specifically - his senior season and the recruiting process.

"We are going good right now. We played Leon last Friday and we won 35-10. This week we have our first district game. We are three and one on the season," Crowell said.

The Florida standout had hoped to make it to the Georgia Tech game against Auburn earlier this season, but Hurricane Katrina kept him at home. "I didn't get down because of the hurricane. Gas was out at a lot of the gas stations. A lot of other kids didn't make it either the coaches said. I am going to try to reschedule," said Crowell.

"I did go to the Florida State game against Miami. It was crazy because FSU came out on top this time. That was fun."

The talented lineman will visit Clemson later this fall with teammate and Clemson verbal commitment DeAndre McDaniel. "Me and DeAndre are going to come up for the Florida State game," stated Crowell.

When asked if he had a leader in the recruiting process, Crowell responded, "No, my favorites are Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina and North Carolina State. I can't really say one team is the leader. They are all about even. I want to give them all a shot."

Clemson assistant Dabo Swinney is working hard to convince Crowell to join his teammate as a Clemson commitment. "Coach Swinney called other day. He talked about getting me and DeAndre up there for a game," he said.

And what about official visits?

"I want to wait until after the season to take my official visits. I am trying to focus on my season right now. I want to wait until after the season to concentrate on recruiting." We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding lineman from Florida, right up through signing day.
