2003 Profile: LB Marcus Howard

Marcus Howard will likely rank as one of the top two linebackers in the state of South Carolina next season, and he already has an offer on the table from Clemson. The standout football player is also a speed demon for Hahanan's track and field team.

One of the top defenders returning next season in the state of South Carolina is Hanahan LB Marcus Howard (6'2, 205, 4.4).

The most impressive aspect to Howard's game is his pure speed. He has been clocked at under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash, and he is also a standout track performer for Hanahan High School. Howard runs a 4.39 40 and has run a 10.55 100 meter.

Howard, the younger brother of Clemson DL J.J. Howard, has attended several Clemson practices this spring and all indications are the Tigers will be the team to beat before its all said and done. Coach Burton Burns is recruiting Howard the hardest, and the Tigers have already offered Howard a scholarship.

"He'll be the most highly recruited prospect ever from Hanahan," says Hanahan Head Coach Jeff Cruce.

Howard can also bench 320 and squat 500. Right now, he is being recruited by North Carolina State, South Carolina, Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee.

We will have more on this standout athlete after the May Evaluation period.
