Firm as Ever

Clemson verbal commitment Jamie Cumbie, the No. 23 prospect in the Midwest according to, is having a solid senior season. At the same time, his commitment to the Tigers remains as strong as ever.

So far, Cumbie has 74 solo tackles and 11 sacks on defense with 301 receiving yards from his tight end position this year for Morris High. In terms of recruiting, the 6-foot-6, 255-pounder gave Clemson his verbal commitment in the middle of the summer, and that commitment remains solid.

"I took my (Clemson) official visit for the Miami game (9-16)," Cumbie said. "I had a great time and I've definitely made the right choice. I got along well with everyone and I just felt at home.

"I really don't have anyone calling me besides Clemson, which is nice. I'm done with the recruiting stuff. I'm just trying to help my team win a state championship."

Cumbie and his Redskins teammates are 7-0 right now and play rival Oswego this weekend. Top Stories
