Peanut Planning More Visits to Clemson

Have the Clemson Tigers really fallen out of the top five schools for 5-star defender Peanut Whitehead? has the latest on the blue-chip defender is this recruiting update.

6-6, 245 pound defensive end prospect Deantwan Whitehead had another outstanding game for West End High School this week as his team pushes towards the playoffs. "I had 10 tackles and two sacks this week. We are 4-4 on the year. If we win Friday we are going to the playoffs," Whitehead told Sunday afternoon.

As most recruiting enthusiasts remember, Whitehead committed to the Tigers earlier this year before quickly changing his mind. And recently, several reports had the Tigers falling from the list of favorites for Whitehead.

Are these reports true about Clemson dropping from the favorites? "No, Clemson is still in my top 5," stated Peanut.

"Alabama is moving high on my list right now. They are not really ahead of Clemson. Clemson is much higher than Alabama at this point."

So who are the top five schools for Whitehead? "Well I don't really have a top five right now. It's more like a top twenty," he said.

Whitehead is also still working to determine who will get official visits, and Clemson is definitely on the list. "I am still planning an official visit to Clemson. I will probably be coming up the week of their banquet up there (in early January)."

The prize recruit will also be back in Death Valley in November for his second unofficial visit to Clemson this fall. "Yeah, I am coming up for another game. I will be there for the Florida State game," Whitehead said.

And what about a timeframe for a decision? According to Whitehead, he's still a long ways from making up his mind. "I am still planning to wait until signing day to make my announcement," he added.
