2003 Profile: WR Terrell Allen

In case you missed it, WR Terrell Allen was one of the most impressive players from South Carolina at the NIKE camp in Athens this past weekend. Fortunately for Tiger fans, Allen will be camping again this summer at Clemson.

Terrell Allen, (6'0,180,4.37) along with Union's David Smith, might just be the top two wide receivers in the state of South Carolina next season.

Allen, out of Byrnes High School, had a solid year last season playing as the number two receiver for his team. He caught 36 passes for 645 yards, and 7 touchdowns.

WR Terrell Allen caught 36 passes for almost 650 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. The 6'0, 180 lb. wide receiver looked exceptional at the NIKE camp in Athens this past weekend.
Allen camped at Tennessee and Clemson last summer, and this year he will again visit Tiger Town and Knoxville, as well as North Carolina, Virginia, and possibly Alabama.

Allen is most noted for his pure speed, as he has consistenly be timed at under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He has good size at 6'0, 180 lbs, and he'll certainly be a D-I prospect.

Allen participated at the NIKE camp in Athens this past weekend and was reportedly one of the most impressive wide receivers there. He lined up against one of the top cover guys in the state Florida in Marcus Clayton, and was able to gain the upperhand more times than not.

"Allen ran good routes and caught everything all day. He shows quickness, speed and explosiveness," noted recruiting expert Jamie Newberg.

It bodes well for Clemson that Allen will be camping in Tiger Town again this summer. Last year, he reportedly was clocked at under 4.3 in the 40-yard dash by several Clemson coaches. In my estimation, you can never have enough speedsters at the skill positions on your team, and Allen is certainly what I would call a "burner".

I also wouldn't be suprised if this became another in-state recruiting battle between South Carolina and the Tigers, with the Vols and the Tar Heels also becoming a serious factor.

We'll have more information available to you on Terrell Allen as we receive it throughout the summer.
