Roy's Picks: Week No. 11

A new column from publisher Roy Philpott previewing this weekend's games.

No. 17 Florida State at Clemson (12:00 PM ESPN)
Bowden Bowl VII features one team that has everything to play for (Clemson), versus another team that has already found a way to the ACC Championship game (Florida State), despite a somewhat disappointing season. The Tigers run wild in a high-scoring affair that should provide plenty of excitement to a national audience. First team to 30 points - wins. Clemson by 3.

Roy's Pick: Clemson (+2); Clemson Straight Up

No. 12 Florida at South Carolina (12:30 PM JP)
Give the Gamecocks credit for what they've accomplished the last two weeks. Actually don't. South Carolina falls to Florida as the Gators exploit the Gamecocks' inability to stop the run. Urban Meyer quiets his skeptics, at least for another year.

Roy's Pick: Florida (-4.5); Florida Straight Up

N.C. State at Boston College (7:15 PM ESPN-2)
It's too bad Chuck Amato wasn't an assistant coach at Boston College before he came to Raleigh, or he'd be able to get the Wolfpack up for this game like he did last week against Florida State. Say bye-bye to N.C. State's bowl hopes.

Roy's Pick: Boston College (-4.5); Boston College Straight Up

No. 24 Georgia Tech at Virginia (3:30 PM ABC)
The Yellow Jackets have crept back into the top 25 after a solid home win over pesky Wake Forest last weekend. Traveling to Charlottesville is no easy task, just ask Florida State. The Hoos win a low-scoring game in the fourth quarter.

Roy's Pick: Georgia Tech (+5); Virginia Straight Up

No. 3 Miami at Wake Forest (3:30 PM ABC)
Upset alert! Upset alert! Miami is coming off a huge road win over No. 3 Virginia Tech and has to travel to sleep Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest. With only a few small hurdles standing between the 'Canes and the ACC Championship game, this sets up nicely as a classic "trap game." Miami by 9.

Roy's Pick: Wake Forest (+17); Miami Straight Up
