Gaither Talks Official Visits

Darius Gaither is one of Clemson's remaining in-state recruiting targets for the class of 2006. The star athlete was back in Death Valley on Saturday to enjoy the Tigers dominating performance. has the latest on the Shrine Bowl standout in this recruiting update.

The 6-1, 200 pound prospect was back in Death Valley again Saturday where he witnessed Clemson's 35-14 win over 17th ranked Florida State. "I went up with two of my god brothers. I really enjoyed it. It was a great experience once again. I wasn't really surprised at the outcome," Gaither told

"The crowd was wonderful. When Clemson got up on them, the fans went crazy. The more they got up the loader the fans got."

The Palmetto standout may see the Tigers in person again this week, but it will depend on when he can leave Raleigh. "I will probably make it, but I'm going to the North Carolina State game earlier that day. I am going to try to get to the game. Since it's a 7:00 kickoff, I should have time to make it," he said.

When asked if he is ready to name some favorites in recruiting process, Gaither responded, "No, I am just chilling. I'm still enjoying everything. I will try to start narrowing it down after the Shrine Bowl."

Clemson assistant coach Brad Scott is working hard to keep the Tigers sqaurely in the mix. "Yeah, me and Coach Scott talk every week," stated Gaither.

Now that his senior season is over the prize recruit is starting to plan his official visits.

"I have lined up one official visit so far. I will be going to Tennessee on January 12. Now I need to start scheduling the others. Tennessee and Clemson are really the only schools where I have talked with the coaches about official visits. Maryland would like me to come up the weekend before the Shrine Bowl, but I don't think I will be able to because we have to report for the Shrine Bowl," he said.
