Gaither Talks Clemson-Carolina

Darius Gaither had hoped to make a doubleheader on Saturday, but he ended up staying home instead. has the latest on one of the top athletes still "on the board" in South Carolina in this recruiting update.

Darius Gaither was looking for the best of both worlds last weekend. Unfortunately for him, it just didn't happen.

One of South Carolina's top uncommitted prospects was hoping to take in two games last Saturday - Middle Tenn. St at N.C. State and Clemson - Carolina. According to Gaither, he didn't make it to either one.

"Yeah, I didn't get to go to either game. I had to work and didn't get off until it was too late," Gaither told

"But I watched it (Clemson - Carolina) on television. It was a good game. I was happy the way it turned out. I was pulling for both teams, but I am happy that Clemson won."

Gaither will now turn his attention to the Shrine Bowl - the annual All-Star game held in Spartanburg that matches the top players from North Carolina against the top players from South Carolina.

"I am just working out now that the season is over. I am trying to get ready for the Shrine Bowl," he said.

Gaither will also be running track next spring. "I should be running the 100, 200 and the 4x100 relay," he said.

Clemson assistant Brad Scott is continuing to work hard to land the Shrine Bowl standout. "I talked with him one day last week. He wanted to know how I was doing. He wished me luck on the Shrine Bowl. I wished him luck with his game against South Carolina," Gaither added.
