Junior wide receiver Xavier Dye wants to play for the Clemson Tigers in 2007, CUTigers.com has learned. "Well I just got off the phone with Coach (Ron) West. I told him I was ready to commit to Clemson. He told me he would call me back and schedule a visit with me for early next week," Dye told CUTigers.com Tuesday evening.

The Tigers already have one verbal commitment for the 2007 class, Byrnes QB Willy Korn. Korn will be the consensus No. 1 player in the state next season, and one of the top ranked quarterbacks in the nation. Dye will likely check in among the top 10 players in South Carolina, and could be ranked even higher after Scout.com reviews more junior film and summer camp tours begin.

At the same time, the 6-4, 190 pound junior wide out had an outstanding junior season this year for Greenwood High. "We lost in the first round of the playoffs. I had 37 receptions for 614 yards and four touchdowns. I averaged 17.2 yards per catch," Dye said.

In terms of recruiting, the Tigers were the first to offer Dye, who has been timed at 4.53 in the forty. "Coach Bowden offered me at the Temple game. I think Carolina wants to offer as well.

"I went to games at Clemson, Georgia Tech and Carolina this year. I liked Clemson much better."

The star receiver already is planning to attend a few camps this summer. "I am going to camp at Clemson. I am also planning to go to the Nike camp in Georgia," he said.

Dye has also been keeping in close contact with Byrnes QB Willy Korn. "Yeah, I talk with Willy sometimes. He wants me to come play with him at Byrnes next year. It is a possibility. We talk about it a lot. It would give us the chance to have a good chemistry before we go to Clemson. My uncle thinks it's a good idea. My mom and I have been talking about it," Dye said.

Dye, a three-sport athlete, is also playing basketball this year for Greenwood High, and he'll likely run track in the spring. "Yeah, I am playing basketball now. I play center. I am also going to run track later this year."

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding receiver from South Carolina, right up through signing day.
