Tigers Late Entry for TN Star RB

The Clemson Tigers are making a late push for one of the top running backs in Tennessee, and it's probably not who you think it is. CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

As first reported on the CUTigers.com Premium Message Board Tuesday evening, Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning made a visit to see one of the top running backs in Tennessee, Graig Cooper.

CUTigers.com caught up with Cooper Wednesday to see if Coach Vic left an impression on the talented back.

"Yeah, coach Vic came by to see me practice yesterday. We just talked a little bit. He tried to let me concentrate on my practice. He told me they are interested and talked about how he would like me to visit Clemson. He wanted to come by and visit me that night but he couldn't make it," Cooper said.

Will the star running back visit the Tigers? "I'm going to try to see. I need to talk to my dad about it," Cooper responded.

"I am going to visit Miami, Oklahoma State, Ole Mississippi and Tennessee. I am visiting Ole Miss and Miami in December. I will visit Oklahoma State and Tennessee in January. I will take all five visits. I'm not sure who will get the last one."

When asked if he has a favorite, Cooper responded, "I don't really have a favorite. I want to take my visits first."

The Tennessee standout is having an outstanding season for Melrose High. "I have 1973 yards and 30 touchdowns so far. We are playing in the state championship on Saturday," he said.

The Tigers may be making a late push for Cooper, but it doesn't sound like it's too late. "Clemson came on real late. They are not too late. I am not pushing off anybody. They came on real late. This week was first time I spoke with them," Cooper added.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding running back from Tennessee, right up through signing day.
