Tigers Closing in on Another Commitment

This top linebacker prospect from Florida says he's 75% sure he'll commit to Clemson.

So far so good for the Clemson coaching staff.

After a few days on the road visiting with some of the top recruits still on the board, the Tigers appear to be making serious headway with several key prospects.

In particular, LB Kevin Alexander may be next in line to commit.

Clemson assistant coach Dabo Swinney continued his whirlwind tour of the state of Florida today when he stopped by Lake Butler and Union Co. High School. "He came by the school today. The meeting went well. We talked about the official visit. He said that he would come back later with Coach Bowden and come by the house," Alexander told CUTigers.com.

Which schools are at the top of his list right now? "I am leaning towards Clemson. I would like to take my visit before committing. I have setup my visit for January 13. I felt comfortable at Clemson when I was up there for the FSU game. I am also going to visit Alabama, Auburn and Louisville."

Alexander said if he signs with Clemson, Coach Swinney said he can have his high school number. "Yeah he said that (Jamaal) Fudge is leaving so I could have #24 if I come to Clemson. That is my number now," he said.

When asked if he is close to making a verbal commitment, Alexander responded, "I haven't decided to make a commitment just yet, but I am really leaning towards Clemson. The coach that was recruiting me for Tennessee got fired. The coach at Kansas State is gone too."

What are the chances that Alexander will sign with the Tigers in February? "I would say about 70 or 75 percent," he responded.

The talented athlete will also be hitting the boards over the next few months. "I am playing basketball now. I am playing center and forward. We have our first game next Wednesday," Alexander added.
