Swinney, Burns Visit 5-Star RB

Clemson assistants Dabo Swinney and Burton Burns paid a visit to Union County High Monday to visit one of the nation's top running backs. The meeting paid huge dividends as the talented running back now plans to take an official visit to Clemson. CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

Coach Swinney and Coach Burns traveled to Lake Butler (Fla.) to meet with 5-10, 185 pound running back prospect C.J. Spiller earlier Monday. CUTigers.com caught up with Spiller later on to get his thoughts on what went down.

"Coach Swinney came by the school today. It was a real nice visit. We talked before I went to basketball practice. He wanted me to meet Coach Burns who came with him," Spiller said.

"Coach Burns is a cool guy. He is very down to earth."

Did today's meeting help secure an official visit for the Tigers? "Yes, I will take an official visit to Clemson," he said.

Spiller will likely make the trip with teammate Kevin Alexander, another prospect high on the Tigers' board on Jan. 13.

"We will probably go up there together. The date might change. We have a district basketball game that day. Kevin plays basketball also." The Union County standout has already taken an official visit to Southern California and has a couple of others in mind. "I am also going to visit Florida State and Miami. I will probably also visit Alabama, but I am not sure," he said.

Coach Wyatt from Alabama also had an in-home visit with the prize recruit tonight. "It went real good. He showed me a lot of things. It was very good," Spiller said. What does Spiller like about Clemson? "I like the facilities. They are still building the endzone. I really like Clemson. It's a nice college town," he said. The coaches and fans will have to wait until February to find out where the Florida standout will play. "I am going to make a signing day announcement," added Spiller. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding running back from Florida, right up through signing day.
