McDaniel: "Too Hard to Switch"

Clemson assistant coach Dabo Swinney had an in-home visit with 4-star safety DeAndre McDaniel on Tuesday. Will the talented defender still take an official visit to Alabama? has the latest in this recruiting update.

Coach Swinney visited with Clemson verbal commitment DeAndre McDaniel and his family Tuesday evening. "It went good," McDaniel said of the visit. "We talked for about two hours about a lot of things."

The Godby standout, who will visit Clemson officially January 13, has been considering taking an official visit to Alabama as well. As it stands now, that visit is clearly up in the air. "I don't know about it yet. If it's not this weekend or next weekend I won't go," he said.

"If it's this weekend then I will have to go Saturday after I take my test and I would need to be back for school on Monday. I have a basketball game next Friday so I would have to leave after that."

Even if the prize recruit decides to visit the Crimson Tide, he says there is no need for Clemson to be concerned. "It's pretty much Clemson right now. It would be too hard to switch me now," he said.

The talented athlete is also an outstanding basketball player for Godby High. "I had a basketball game tonight. I had 30 points and we won," McDaniel said.

Would McDaniel be interested in playing basketball for the Tigers? "I don't know," he responded. "I got a feeling they might want me to. I probably would just want to play football."

Of course, one of the biggest discussions going on right now concerning Clemson recruiting is the idea that the Tigers could sign two of McDaniel's teammates - CB Marcus Udell and DT Kareem Crowell. "I got a feeling we will get them both. We talk about it a lot. I am trying to convince Kareem to change his visit to Auburn so he can come up with me and Marcus," McDaniel added.

McDaniel is also expecting an in-home visit from Coach Bowden the week after his official visit. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding safety from Florida, right up through signing day. Top Stories
