Top-ranked Clemson lost its first series of the year, but came back to win three of its five games on the week to hold the top spot for the seventh consecutive week. No. 2 Rice continued in its bridesmaid role, unable to take advantage of the Tigers' slip by losing two of their four games as well. Third-ranked Wake Forest played only one game on the week, and the rest of the top seven teams remained the same as all won or swept important league series.
The biggest mover of this week's poll was LSU, which jumped up six spots to No. 15 after winning two of three at Florida. The Tigers have won five of their last six Southeastern Conference series, with the lone
loss coming in a three-game set at South Carolina. At the other end of the SEC spectrum is Mississippi, which has lost three straight series and in the process has dropped from a
peak ranking of sixth to this week's 24th.
James Madison was the only club new to the rankings this weekend.
The Dukes, who previously jumped into the poll for one week on April 8, swept UNC Wilmington and took control of the Colonial Athletic Association race. They re-entered this week's rankings at No. 22.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are as of May 12 and do not include ties.
Tigers Still Ranked #1
