Recent verbal commitment Chris Russell graduated last week from Coffeyville Community College and is now preparing to enroll at Clemson University. "I graduated from Coffeyville on Friday. I will be enrolling at Clemson in January," Russell told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

The former Colorado defensive back had several Big 12 teams trying to convince him to return their conference, but Russell wasn't interested. "Yeah I had offers this year from Central Florida, Kansas, South Florida, Missouri and a couple other Big 12 schools. I would have had to sit out another year since I came from the Big 12 so I decided against the Big 12," he said. "I'm sold on Clemson."

Russell's father is also glad his some will be playing closer to home.

"He really loves the atmosphere at Clemson. He got to meet with Coach Bowden and all of the coaches when we came to the Florida State game. It is close to come so it will be easy for him to come see me play," Russell said.

The talented defender also can't wait to run down the hill next fall. "I saw it when they played Florida State. It is a real exciting moment. It is one of the loudest times of the game," he said.

What is Russell looking forward to about Clemson? "I am just looking forward to getting back to playing Division I ball mainly," he responded.

Russell, a former defensive back at Colorado, opted to leave the Buffalos program two years ago. Ironically, Clemson will face Colorado in the upcoming Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 27.

Russell spent last year at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He was recruited to Clemson by defensive coordinator Vic Koenning.
