Shrine Bowl Scoop: K Richard Jackson

SPARTANBURG - Clemson verbal commitment Richard Jackson will handle both the punting and kicking duties for the Sandlappers this week. caught up with the talented kicker after practice Monday to get his thoughts on the upcoming week and more.

What are practices like for a kicker leading up to this game Saturday?
Jackson: Well I didn't do a lot of kicking this morning. It is tough doing two-a-days. I got a little kicking in this morning. I don't want to kick every session or I will be worn out for Saturday. I will probably just kick a lot more this afternoon.

What was the visit to the Shriners hospital on Sunday like for you?
Jackson: It was a lot of fun. That is really what this week is about. The kids and the cause. It was a lot of fun being around them in that atmosphere.

Have you been talking with any of the other guys headed to Clemson this week?
Jackson: I have talked with a few of them. I'm getting to know them a little bit. It's been fun. They are some pretty good guys.

What are your goals for this week?
Jackson: I just want to continue to improve. This game will be good because the speed will be a lot faster than a regular high school game. It will help to get use to that speed for next year.

What will you do this spring to prepare for Clemson football?
Jackson: I will do a lot of kicking. A lot of kicking and a lot of weight lifting. I will do it all each day. I will do about 50% punting, 25% field goals and 25% kickoffs. Top Stories
