5-Star DE has Plenty of Options

5-star defensive end Deantwan "Peanut" Whitehead is finalizing plans for three official visits in January. CUTigers.com spoke with the star defender in a post-Christmas interview and we've got the latest on his official visit plans for the month of January in this recruiting update.

West End (Ala.) standout Deantwan "Peanut" Whitehead had planned to finalize his official visit schedule over the holidays, but apparently there is still some work to do.

"It's still a little shaky," Whitehead told CUTigers.com Thursday evening.

What's the problem?

As it stands now, three schools, including Clemson, Auburn and Alabama are all trying to get the 5-star defender to take an official visit during the weekend of January 13.

So what will Peanut do?

"I think I might stick with Clemson on the 13th. That is probably what I will do," he said. "I am thinking about going to Tennessee on January 20th. I am looking at either Auburn or Alabama for the final weekend in January. I will probably only take three more visits."

The prize recruit watched some of the Tigers victory in the Champ Sports Bowl on Tuesday night. "I caught it late. It was pretty good. The defense looked good," he said.

The scary thing for future opponents is the 6-6, 245 pound prospect is planning to get bigger as he prepares for the next level. "I'm just working out a lot right now. I just want to get bigger and faster for next season," Whitehead said.

Despite the recruiting frenzy that appears to be shaping up next month, Peanut added that he enjoyed himself over the holidays. "I had a good holiday. I didn't really go anywhere. I just chilled out," he said.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive end from Alabama, right up through signing day 2006.
