Fla DB Working Standout DT

Florida standout safety DeAndre McDaniel goes on the record with CUTigers.com to discuss his official visit plans.

Clemson wide receivers coach Dabo Swinney traveled to Tallahassee, Fla. earlier this week to meet with verbal commitment DeAndre McDaniel and one of his teammates. "Coach Swinney came by to see me on Tuesday. He came by the school and the house," McDaniel told CUTigers.com. "It went good.

"I'm really trying to get Kareem [Crowell] to join me. I don't know if he will or not. I think the visit may change his mind."

Crowell, a defensive tackle, is a current Auburn commitment who is planning to visit Clemson later this month.

And in addition to McDaniel recruiting his teammate to Clemson, he also had some strong words about the strength of his commitment. "I'm firm to Clemson. I will not be taking any other visits," he said. "It's done."

DeAndre and his family will also travel to Clemson January 13 for his official visit. "Yeah I am coming up with my family. They are excited about the trip. I will be coming with my mom, grandmother, god mom, my dad and his wife. We are driving up in two separate cars," he said.

The Florida standout is also working hard to get his test score where it needs to be to enroll at Clemson on time later this summer. "I still need to take the ACT one more time. I am sure I will be fine," he said.

McDaniel is also having a great senior season for Godby on the hardwood. "It is going pretty good. We are 9-4. We won one tournament over the holidays and lost two games in another. I am averaging about 20 points per game," he added.
