Alabama DE Sets Clemson Visit

Demetrius Culpepper, one of the top defensive ends in Alabama, is planning to take an official visit to Clemson in January. Do the Tigers have a chance to overtake leader Auburn? CUTigers.com has the latest in this recruiting update.

6-3, 220 pound defensive end prospect Demetrius Culpepper, who is being recruited to Clemson by wide receivers coach Dabo Swinney, will be heading to Clemson on an official visit in just two weeks, CUTigers.com has learned

"I have one (visit) down for Clemson on the 20th I think. I haven't had time to call and firm everything up because of basketball," Culpepper said. "We just got back from a basketball tournament in Texas. We lost in the third round. We were the only team from out of state. I had a good time out there."

When asked if he has a favorite in the recruiting process, Culpepper responded, "Auburn is my leader right now. I have been there a lot. I am real familiar with Auburn."

The Tigers will have a chance to turn the prize recruit on his official visit to Tiger Town. "I just want to find out more about Clemson. I know they have a good program."

And what about any other schools?

"I am also looking at Southern Mississippi," Culpepper said. "I have heard some good things about them from one of my teammates."

What are the chances that Culpepper will end up signing with Auburn? "I would say about 80 percent right now," he added.
