Recruiting: Tigers Ranked in Top 20

Clemson holds on at No. 19 in Scout.com's rankings, but that could change before signing day.

Scout.com's 2006 Recruiting Rankings

The Clemson Tigers' 2006 recruiting class, currently ranked 19th by Scout.com, appears to be poised to finish among the top 20 schools in the country headed into the heart of January.

However, that number could improve significantly if just one of the top prospects still on the board commits to the Tigers in the coming weeks.

A closer look at the rankings reveals Clemson currently holds a 19-point lead over the No. 20 team - Texas Tech and a 20-point lead over the No. 21 team - Alabama.

Looking ahead, two teams directly in front of the Tigers are national powers, with Florida State and Miami coming in at 17 and 18 respectively.

The Tigers still have several highly ranked prospects still on the board - including 5-star RB C.J. Spiller, 3-star TE Dennis Godfrey, and 3-star LB Craig Stevens.

Clemson's highest-rated verbal commitment is 5-star defensive end Ricky Sapp, the nation's No. 2 DE.

The Tigers also have the country's No. 6 ranked defensive back class.
