Even though Gaines Adams told CUTigers.com earlier this afternoon that he has not reached a decision regarding the upcoming NFL Draft, indications are that he is more likely to go pro than return.
In addition, members of the coaching staff are not aware of Adams attending classes and he also has not gone through his scheduled team workouts. Someone closely involved with the situation said, "I'd be very shocked if he came back next year."
At issue for Adams are recent mock drafts by various media sources indicating that he would be a potential first round draft pick. However, several NFL personnel have told CUTigers.com that he would be a late second round pick at best, and most likely a third or fourth round draft pick.
During today's meeting with Adams, CUTigers.com has also learned that head coach Tommy Bowden had several NFL scouts call to talk with Adams and his family about their belief on where he would be drafted, should he elect to leave school early.
In addition to Bowden, Adams and his family also met with his position coach - Ron West. He also met earlier in the week with defensive coorindator Vic Koenning.
Adams has until Sunday, Jan. 15 to declare his eligibility for the draft.
