The Clemson Tigers picked up their 19th verbal commitment in the 2006 recruiting class earlier tonight when Union County (Fla.) LB Kevin Alexander committed to head coach Tommy Bowden and assistant Dabo Swinney during an in-home visit.

"I just felt comfortable with Clemson and the coaches. I just sat back and thought about it," Alexander told after making his big decision.

"The coaches are very happy. They are actually still here," he said. "I just felt like I needed to get it out of the way. I am 100% committed to Clemson."

Alexander, who visited Clemson officially this past weekend, chose the Tigers over Louisville. He said after taking his official visit to Clemson, "I'm just going to sit down and compare the two schools. It's really dead even right now."

Alexander was also scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee next weekend, but that visit will be cancelled.

With the 19 verbal commitments in the 2006 recruiting class, Clemson is expected to take one or two more prospects before reaching its limit. Top Stories
