Tigers Interested in Junior NC TE

The Clemson Tigers are one of several ACC teams showing early interest in Ahoskie, North Carolina junior tight end Lamarcus Jenkins. CUTigers.com introduces Jenkins in this recruiting update.

6-3, 225 pound tight end prospect Lamarcus Jenkins participated in the U.S. Army Junior Combine earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas.

"It was fun. I enjoyed the experience. I got to see the other tight ends that are supposed to be the best in the nation. I think I did well," Jenkins told CUTigers.com in a recent interview.

The North Carolina standout is waiting on his first official scholarship offer, but several schools are showing early interest, including the Tigers. "Right now I am getting interest from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke and Clemson," he said.

When asked if he has any favorites, Jenkins responded, "No, not really. I haven't really visited any schools yet and I've got a lot more to learn about each."

The Hertferd County standout is not sure where he which schools will get visits during the summer time camp circuit. "I am not sure where I will camp yet. My coach just had surgery so we haven't talked about that yet. I know we will probably go to North Carolina," he said.

Which team did Jenkins grow up pulling for? "I always liked North Carolina," Jenkins responded.

Look for the talented tight end to make an early commitment if the right offer comes along. "I want to commit before the season. I would like to get the decision out of the way," he added.

Jenkins' junior stats on the offensive side of the ball were not available at the time of this interview, but he did finish with nine sacks playing on the defensive line. Jenkins also plays basketball for Hertford County.
