Top 3 National Signing Day Questions

Make no mistake, Clemson fans want to know more about 5-star RB C.J. Spiller more than anything else.

1) What's the story on C.J. Spiller?
The top target on the Tigers' 2006 recruiting board is clear: 5-star RB C.J. Spiller. What will he do? When will we announce? Spiller, who has already eliminated Miami and Southern California, is now down to Clemson, Florida State and Florida. He has tentatively set a press conference Wednesday morning at 10 AM to make his decision known to the general public. Landing Spiller would be the ultimate signing day surprise, and it would also send a clear message to the rest of the ACC that Clemson is positioning itself to make a serious run at an ACC Championship and a BCS bid.

2) Who will be the Charlie Whitehurst or Tye Hill of the 2006 recruiting class?
It happens every year in every class at every school around the country: two-star prospects turn into All-American performers. Coming out of high school five years ago, nobody made mention of Whitehurst or Hill as future stars of the Clemson football program. Whitehurst would go on to leave Clemson holding virtually every significant school passing record and Hill will likely be a first round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

3) Is this Tommy Bowden's top class at Clemson?
It may not show up in the rankings, but the 2006 recruiting class has its share of potential stars, including 5-star DE Ricky Sapp, 4-star DB Crezdon Butler, 4-star DE Jamie Cumbie, 4-star DB DeAndre McDaniel, and one of the top kickers in the nation in Richard Jackson. In year's past, the classes that received the least amount of hype (see 2004) have gone on to make the biggest impact on the program. Will that be the case this year? With or without C.J. Spiller, the impact of the 2006 recruiting class will be significant, especially in the secondary, on the defensive line and also in the kicking game. Top Stories
