Clemson Baseball Ranked No. 1

Clemson moves into the top spot in Baseball America's Top25 rankings.

Preseason No. 1 Texas opened the season with three straight losses, opening the door for Clemson to ascend to the top spot in Baseball America's weekly college Top 25 rankings before playing its first game. The Tigers open play Feb. 17 against James Madison.

Texas slid to No. 7 after getting swept by San Diego. The Toreros secured their first sweep of a No. 1 team in school history and moved into the rankings at No. 18. It marks San Diego's first Top 25 appearance since April 1, 2002.

Stanford also joined the rankings with a sweep of Cal State Fullerton. The Cardinal debut at No. 19, while the Titans slipped to ninth. Long Beach State also swept a ranked opponent, winning three games against Southern California to rise to No. 17. The Trojans fell out of the rankings.

Cal Poly joins the rankings for the first time in school history. The No. 25 Mustangs are off to a 5-1 start. The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of Feb. 5 and do not include ties.
