Scouting Report: QB Michael Wade

A closer look at the Tigers only quarterback in the 2006 recruiting class: Riverside's Michael Wade.

QB Michael Wade
6-2, 185, 4.6
Riverside High School
Greer, South Carolina

Strengths: Athletic and has good speed. Throws an accurate ball and throws well on the run. Sees the field well, makes good decisions and finds the open receiver. Can make plays when running with the football.

Weaknesses: Has a tendency to rely on his legs before making all of his progressions. He has a tendency to float the football. Needs to throw with more confidence, and make quicker decisions.

Evaluation: It is difficult to evaluate Wade based on film alone. In fact, Wade played behind a subpar offensive line and many times his receivers dropped balls that hit them right in their hands. This led to Wade trying to float the ball, hesitating to throw and relying on his legs instead of taking chances with his receivers. Will need to work on his arm strength, but he has the tools to succeed in a Rob Spence offense. He really excels when he is able to roll the pocket and use his athleticism. Will have to rely on his arm as floating the ball will not be accepted at the next level.
