Upstate LB/RB Piling Up Scholarship Offers

One of the top running back/linebacker prospects in the state of South Carolina continues to pile up scholarship offers entering the heart of February.

Brian Maddox, one of's Top 10 Juniors in South Carolina, has three favorites as he prepares for an unofficial visit tour this winter.

The 6-2, 215 pound prospect is also building an impressive offer list early in the recruiting process. "Right now I have offers from Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Duke, Maryland, Vanderbilt and North Carolina State," Maddox told in a recent interview. "I am also hearing from Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State and Clemson, but they have not offered."

When asked who his current favorites are, Maddox responded, "South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia Tech are my top three right now."

The two-way standout could play running back or linebacker at the next level. "Yeah I prefer to play running back. All three of my favorites want me at running back. I think Clemson wants me for linebacker but I am not hearing as much from them right now," he said.

If the Tigers are going to make a push for Maddox they will need to move quickly over the next few months. "I am going to announce my commitment on my birthday," he said. "My birthday is May 28. I want to do it then so I can just look back and remember. It's an important decision. I will be ready by then."

Maddox also said he plans on visiting several schools unofficially in the coming months, including Clemson.

"I know I am going to Maryland this weekend," he said. "I am going to North Carolina State sometime in March. Then Virginia Tech in March. I will also try to go to South Carolina and Clemson when they have their junior days." The Palmetto standout also said he plans to attend the combine at Duke in March. Top Stories
