Mason Cloy, one of the top offensive linemen in South Carolina, is planning to visit Clemson in early March. CUTigers.com has the latest on the Spring Valley standout in this recruiting update.
"I have offers from Clemson, South Carolina and Vanderbilt," Cloy told CUTigers.com. "I am hearing from Auburn, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Stanford, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan State and Southern Mississippi."
The 6-4, 260 pound prospect doesn't have to look far for a hero as his father is serving our country in Iraq. Although his father is on the other side of the world, they still find a way to discuss the recruiting process. "It is kind of hard," Cloy confessed. "It would be nice to have him hear to help me sort things out. We talk on the phone about every other day and we email a lot. He is expecting to come home in the middle of May."
Who is recruiting Cloy for the Tigers? "Coach Scott is recruiting me for Clemson," responded the top lineman. "He tells me that they are excited about me. He is trying to get me to come over for a visit so I will be going to Clemson in the first or second week of March."
Cloy says he also plans to visit several other schools this spring, but nothing has been set in stone just yet. "I'm not sure where else I will go. I want to try to get to as many as possible," he said.
The talented lineman will not likely make an early commitment. "I don't know when I will be ready. It won't be any time soon," he said. "It will probably be sometime next fall or next year."
What will be important to Cloy when he selects a college? "It will not be any one thing," he responded. "It's going to be a place where I can get a good education. It's going to be a place with a good football program. It's going to be a place that meets all around high expectations."
