Brian Maddox, a 6-foot, 215 pound running back, and Cameron Ford, a 6-foot-4, 212 pound wide receiver, are hearing from the big names and making the frequent trips to college campuses. Thankfully, with the help from their predecessors, the two are learning how to handle the recruiting process.
"Just to be patient, work hard, and schools will start to come to you," Ford said. "Virginia Tech wants me to come up there in March, NC State wants me to come up there, and they are very, very interested in me."
Ford also visited South Carolina over the weekend for its junior day activities. The Gamecocks are also working Maddox very hard, who admits he did not expect this type of activity this early.
"It has surprised me some and I am getting a lot of text messages from college coaches," Maddox said, while adding that he is getting plenty of scholarship offers as well. "The hardest school on me right now is South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, NC State, schools like that."
"I was not hearing much from Clemson, but recently I've been getting text messages from Coach Burns and Coach Blackwell," Maddox admitted. "I would like to play running back in college, but Clemson wants me to play on the defensive side of the ball."
A decision from the Tigers needs to come early as he plans to make an early decision.
"I want to make an early decision, on my birthday, May 28."
However, Ford is taking a wait-and-see approach with summer camps and unofficial visits.
"Last summer I went to Iowa State on a two-day trip and that was a great trip. I am thinking about going back there, Notre Dame, and maybe Texas A&M. I'll probably wait a little while and see what comes."
