Top DE Visiting Clemson Today

Laurinburg (NC) Scotland County standout Travian Robertson returned from his most recent NC State visit after camping with the Wolfpack. The four-star defensive end prospect discussed the visit and his recruitment with Pack Pride.

"It went good," Travian Robertson told Pack Pride. "I worked out for one session and then I went back the next day to look around some more. "It was kind of busy because there was a lot of little kids in the day I went, so the coaches were teaching them a lot of stuff. I learned a lot by watching the coaches. I was hanging around with my coach, and I worked out a little bit.

"I got to see the campus. I liked it... they did seem to be doing a lot of construction. I liked the dorms the players stay in. Those are real nice."

Robertson missed all but three games his junior season but still totaled 11 tackles and three sacks. His game is based on speed and relentless pressure, and colleges are intrigued by his upside. With offers from NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Clemson, and Virginia Tech, he is certainly a priority.

Robertson feels the need to make a quick decision. Unlike most highly regarded prospects, he isn't a fan of the recruiting game. He is hoping to take one or two more unofficial visits and then sit down with his parents to talk about the schools under consideration.

"Yes sir, I'm kind of ready to get it done," he said. "It would be hard to go into my senior year and have different people calling every five minutes.

"I'm probably going to Clemson [today]. I haven't checked them out yet, them or Virginia Tech, so I kind of want to check them out before I make a decision. That way I will have seen every school that has offered me.

"I don't have an exact date. I will probably set that after these next two visits and after I talk with my parents about everything."

What will be the biggest factor for Robertson?

"Basically the trust in the people," he said. "Now it's coming down to being around people that I can trust... a coach that I can count on."

Robertson stated that South Carolina, NC State, North Carolina, and Clemson were his top four schools, and he didn't have a leader.

What does he like about each of those universities?

South Carolina: "It's a nice place. It's just a nice little town and nice coaches. They've got a good football program, and I think it's getting real good now with coach Spurrier there. I knew coach Lawing for a while, and he's been keeping in touch."

North Carolina: "I've been liking them from the start. It's a nice town too. I've been keeping in touch with coach Thigpen for a long time."

NC State: "I remember when I went to that first spring game two years ago... I met Mario Williams. I like coach Stroud... he's a technician. I learned a lot from him being up there. He knows everything about the line."

Clemson: "I haven't visited them yet, so I don't know as much about them. That's why I want to take this visit." Top Stories
