Tigers Lead for Union DL

Devon Thompson traveled to Clemson for Junior Day last Saturday to see just what the Tigers had to offer. He left with a new leader. CUTigers.com has all the details in this recruiting update.

6-3, 280 pound defensive line prospect Devon Thompson visited Clemson University on Saturday with several of his teammates. "It was excellent," Thompson said of his trip. "I liked everything. The facilities, the players, the coaching staff everything was great."

What did Thompson enjoy most about his visit?

"Just talking with the coaches," Thompson responded. "I talked with coach Bowden and coach Blackwell. Coach Bowden talked to me and some of my teammates. He said they need some good defensive linemen. He said the defensive line anchors the defense."

Both South Carolina and Clemson are recruiting Thompson along with several other schools as he awaits his first offer. "I don't have any offers yet. I have been to Junior Days now at South Carolina and Clemson. I am getting letters from Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt."

When asked if he has a leader, Thompson responded, "Right now Clemson is my favorite. I just like everything about them."

The South Carolina standout may visit Tennessee this weekend. "I was planning to go to Junior Day at Tennessee this weekend, but I'm not sure if I will be able to make. I will try to make it," he said.

Thompson will also be back at Clemson a couple of time this spring. "I will definitely try to get to the Orange and White game. I am also supposed to go to the Nike camp at Clemson," stated Thompson.

What are the strengths of the star defensive tackle? "I feel like I come off the ball quick. I can get penetration," responded Thompson.

He also added: "This year I will be one of the leaders on the team. I am just going to try to raise my whole game to another level. I want to get faster, stronger, quicker."
